Connect and Learn Newcastle

Get ready for a fantastic Saturday evening in Newcastle on 11 October 2025!

Join us for a ‘Connect and Learn’ evening with the amazing Dr Samantha Haitsma.

The topic for the evening will be Oral Motor Foundations: 0–12 Months, catch up with local colleagues, and meet ACA Regional Manager, Cheryl Jendrachowski.
The first year of life is a critical window for neurological and craniofacial development. Oral motor function, encompassing sucking, swallowing, chewing, and breathing, is more than a feeding mechanism. It is a primary driver of sensory–motor integration, posture, airway health, and later speech development.

Samantha will explore the neurodevelopmental underpinnings of oral motor foundations from intrauterine development to 12 months of age. Using the Activate–Integrate–Stabilise (AIS) framework, this presentation will unpack the role of primitive reflexes, cranial nerve function, central pattern generators, and the oral–postural–airway connection.

After the learning, stay for a relaxing dinner where the conversation and good times will continue. It’s going to be a perfect evening of knowledge and networking.

See you there!
