Giving Back in 2022

  • Christmas, Giving Back, Public engagement

ACA’s Giving Back week was a huge success, and we extend an enormous thank you to all our ACA members who got involved with such a great cause! It was wonderful to see so many members posting photos to social media with all the Christmas goodies that were kindly donated.

Held every December, ‘Giving Back’ is our annual Christmas charity drive, where for one-week ACA members around the country get involved to collect gift donations on behalf of a chosen charity.

Giving Back week is one of the most magical campaigns that the ACA runs each year, and its continued success is a testament to the benevolence and compassion of our members.

This year donations included new unwrapped toys, clothes, non-perishable food items, toiletries, monetary donations, and even free services for those who could offer a trade or specialty. Some chiropractors even went one step further, accepting donations in lieu of payment, on a selected date, whilst still collecting donations for the rest of the week.

Some of the charities receiving donations included Food Bank Australia, The Salvation Army, Lifeline, Dandelions WA, Friend in Me, Sunny Kids, Children in Care, At the Ark, Shalom House, Street Chaplains and the Red Cross.

To highlight just a few practices, Innate Chiropractic Gladstone (QLD) collected toys and non-perishable food items to support women and children who need extra care and shelter via the community support group, Roseberry QLD. Innate Chiropractic Gladstone also generously accepted donations in lieu of payment on Saturday 10 December. “Giving Back day is a much-loved part of our practice calendar, and our practice community rallies around to support our local Roseberry House” says Dr Alison Young from Innate Chiropractic Gladstone.

Hillary’s Chiropractic and Wellness Professionals (WA) collected a humongous total of 19 school bags, filled with school supplies to be delivered to local schools in the area through charity Dandelions WA.

Similarly, Croydon Chiropractic Centre (VIC) held toys for treatment, where piles and piles of colourful children’s toys were collected from boogie-boards, to stuffed animals, dinosaurs, puzzles, card games, cars, picture books to dolls, and everything in between!

“Our clinic has been involved in toys for treatment one day a year for the past 32 years, and we are so pleased to be able to continue doing it as a means of giving back to our community every year. For one day every year, all patients who are booked in on the day get to bring a new toy instead of paying for their treatment, and these toys get donated to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal, to help those who are struggling to celebrate Christmas. Some patients who haven’t been able to get to the shops to get a toy can choose to pay for their treatment, and all income from the day gets donated to the Salvos as well.”

“This year our new chiropractor, Dr Giri Prasetya, also joined us in donating his time and expertise, together with all our CAs – Joan, Marijse, Lorraine and Isabel. We are yet to do a full toy tally but are expecting the toy number to be in the hundreds, and cash donations amount to more than $1500 so far! With the rising costs of everything this year, we are so happy that we get the opportunity to give back, to make Christmas a little more special for those that are struggling. I’m of the belief that it is more blessed to give than to receive, and it brings us such joy seeing the generosity of our community and knowing that we will be bringing smiles to so many faces this Christmas season” says Clinical Director Dr Roi Cheng.

The ACA extends its appreciation to all members who participated in spreading the Christmas magic of giving back. We’re incredibly proud of this campaign and we’re thrilled to see this campaign go from strength to strength each year.

We wish all our ACA members a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
