Following extensive consultation with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), the Australian Chiropractors Association (ACA) welcomes the release of a revised chiropractic fee schedule that better reflects contemporary practice and supports the delivery of care to TAC clients.
The new fee schedule, which takes effect from 1 September 2026, includes substantial increases to consultation fees together with the introduction of several new service items that provide greater flexibility for chiropractors managing clients with more complex needs. The revised schedule also includes clearer service descriptions to support consistent billing and service delivery.
The ACA and CA worked closely with the TAC throughout the review, providing fee survey data, practice insights and ongoing feedback to ensure the revised schedule better reflects current chiropractic practice.
Details About New TAC Feed Schedule
Key changes from 1 September 2026 include:
- Initial consultation: increases from $72.76 to $103.16 (41.8%)
- Standard consultation: increases from $59.47 to $82.53 (38.8%)
- Extended consultation: new item available for complex presentations, billed in 15-minute increments up to one hour
- Travel: new travel item to support clinically justified treatment outside the practice setting
- Allied Health Treatment and Recovery Plan: increases from $65.36 to $85.87 (31.4%)
- New item numbers for extended consultations, travel and TAC team meetings, together with clearer service descriptors.
The significant uplift across consultation items and the introduction of new service options represent an important improvement for Victorian chiropractors and the patients they treat.
Members providing services to TAC clients should ensure their billing systems are updated before 1 September 2026. Existing consultation item numbers remain in place, while new item numbers have been introduced for the additional services.
