Position Vacancy: Journal Editor – Chiropractic Journal of Australia and New Zealand (CJANZ)

Part-Time | Remote

The Australian Chiropractors Association (ACA) is seeking an experienced and visionary Journal Editor to lead the transformation and growth of the Chiropractic Journal of Australia into the Chiropractic Journal of Australia and New Zealand (CJANZ).

This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of chiropractic research and publication across Australasia. As Editor, you will oversee the journal’s editorial direction, build a high-performing peer-review and editorial board, and work closely with the New Zealand Chiropractors’ Association (NZCA) to reflect the evolving priorities and innovations of the profession.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the editorial strategy and publication of CJANZ.
  • Foster high-quality submissions, including from early-career researchers and field practitioners.
  • Drive the journal’s digital presence, accessibility, and indexing goals (e.g., Scopus, PubMed).
  • Collaborate with ACA, NZCA, and academic institutions to align content with professional and research developments.
  • Secure funding and sponsorships to support the journal and its contributors.
  • Track key performance indicators to measure reach, impact, and engagement.

Highly Desirable

  • Membership with ACA, NZCA, or a World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) organisation.
  • Experience with Open Journal Systems (OJS) or similar platforms.
  • Proven ability to secure research funding or sponsorships.

Essential Criteria

  • Track key performance indicators to measure reach, impact, and engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in academic editing, writing, and publishing.
  • Knowledge of online journal platforms and peer review systems.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • Background in chiropractic or a health-related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualifications (Master’s/PhD) or equivalent experience.
  • Established publication record in relevant fields.

Working Conditions

  • This is a remote, part-time role (remuneration commensurate with experience).
  • Term: Three years, renewable upon approval by the ACA CEO.
  • Administrative and IT support provided by ACA Head Office.
