ACA is coming to Coffs Harbour to launch Connect and Learns in the local area.

 

Join Dr Joan Van Rotterdam and Linda Smith over dinner to get the latest updates from Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island Rural Remote Practitioner Network (ARRPN) and network with local chiropractors in the region.

Joan and Linda will provide updates on the Rural Health space sharing information on:

  • Rural Placement Grants  

  • Practitioners Network

  • Latest updates from Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health

    Dr Joan Van Rotterdam
    Biography

    Joan arrived in Australia with her parents in 1958 from South Africa and settled in Armidale, in rural New South Wales. She graduated in 1986 from the Sydney College of Chiropractic and started her own practice in 1991.

    From 2000 to 2013, Joan worked as Practice Manager for a medical rehabilitation practice and currently works as a chiropractor in private practice.

    In 2006 Joan commenced her PhD and graduated in April 2019, her area of study was Cardiac and Pulmonary rehabilitation. She currently serves as the chair of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Rural and Remote Practitioner Network (ARRPN) for the Australian Chiropractors Association (ACA) and is on the ACERF committee.

    Joan has also worked for 25 years with a not for profit organisation called Hands-on-Health Australia (HoHA). This organisation helps to provide free healthcare to under-privileged communities, such as the homeless.

    Biography

    A chiropractic patient since the age of 10, Linda has been working in the chiropractic industry for more than 25 years. Her industry experience includes working as a CA, recruiting chiropractors into the UK, practice owner, state-based management and advocacy roles within the CAA / ACA, Head of HR and Culture for a large Australian Chiropractic company and most recently as Head of Policy for the ACA.

    With a political science, international relations and management background, Linda enjoys building relationships, connecting people, representing the profession to our stakeholders and supporting chiropractors in both their everyday practice and in increasing their footprint in the community. Her vision is to see chiropractic utilisation and participation increase in the healthcare system and for every person to be able to access and benefit from high quality chiropractic care.
